Small by design, not by accident.
JW Community Websites is kept small and simple on purpose — no account managers, no jargon. Here is why, and how it works for communities.
Good local groups should not go without a good website just because they run on volunteers and small budgets.
JW Community Websites was started by Jake Wells, who also builds simple, effective websites for small businesses through JW Business Websites, and, through the JW family, for churches, classes and community groups. It is kept deliberately small: no account managers, no agency layers, no jargon. When you get in touch, you hear back from the person actually working on your site.
Over and over the same two groups of people turn up. There are village halls, clubs and classes that need a good website and find it hard to pay for one. And there are local people and businesses who would happily help their community if there were a simple way to do it. JW Community Websites gives groups a good site for £20 a month, and Supporting Communities lets sponsors help cover it through a shared pot.
How it is funded, plainly. Each website costs £20 a month, paid by the group, by sponsors through the pot, or by both. That money pays for the website to be built, hosted and kept up to date, and that is how this work is paid for. That is why sponsorship is not a charitable donation, and why JW Community Websites is not a charity. Groups get a good website, sponsors are thanked, and the work gets paid for.
How it stays clear. Sponsors have no say over what a group publishes. Credits are plain and factual, and you can always see where the pot stands and exactly what your money covers. If something changes, you will be told.
